Houston Landscapes Unlimited

H.L.U. History

Houston Landscapes Unlimited (HLU) was established in February of 1983 by Dean N. Carpenter, founder and current President/CEO.  Carpenter had a vision to establish a full service landscape and irrigation company.  "Our organization has effectively had one principle goal throughout this period, which is that quality services at competitive levels equals customer satisfaction." The continuous growth of customers and employees led to the formation of the present corporation. In July 1985, HLU Services Inc. was founded to be our parent company and allowed HLU to provide more services in other industries.

As the projects grew at a rate of 100%, Carpenter began hiring additional employees to handle the expanding operations.  HLU eventually outgrew the main warehouse and Carpenter purchased 15 acres of land in Sugar Land, which is now where HLU's main location is housed. Today, the Sugar Land location hosts a brand new 12,000 sq. ft. administration building, an 8,000 sq. ft. operations building, a 10,000 sq. ft. warehouse, and a 12 acre nursery, called Fort Bend Growers, that will become the future source for all of HLU's plants and trees.

HLU has reached a level of success that Carpenter started out for more than 30 years ago. The company is now one of Houston’s largest commercial landscape and irrigation contractors. With contracts such as NRG Park, BBVA Compass Stadium, Skeeters Stadium, numerous professional buildings and master planned communities throughout Houston such as First Colony, Riverstone, Telfair, Imperial, Aliana, and Cinco Ranch. HLU's portfolio also includes retail developments from Fort Bend to The Woodlands, such as Sugar Land Town Square and many others throughout the entire Houston Metropolitan Area.

Throughout the success of the company, HLU has been able to maintain such a heavy growth rate by never letting go of the dream that Carpenter began with; "Quality customer service from highly qualified individuals, to effectively produce the best looking landscapes in Houston."  HLU is routinely invited to bid on the largest and greatest projects in the Houston Metropolitan Area, because of the undeniable reputation that HLU carries with its name.  "Our personal approach and level of dedication to each client we take on is what we pride ourselves with.  It’s how our foundation was built and continues to stand on today."
